And dreams
of a half-life
on the moon
From somewhere or other
And driftin’ down
too fast — too soon
A copper leaf
begins to wither
And for a moment — hangs there
hoverin’ — on the edge
of ordinary time
Then breaks away
and drifts down
And now I find
well I find that I’m
here
Wishin’ I was holdin’ you
there . . . in my arms
As I drift off to sleep
I know that
tomorrow
will only be
Just another day
And what more can I say?
The sorrows
of a tatter
in the wind
caught!!
kickin’ and dancin’
An echo that won’t resound again
There’re no second chances
But still I find, I linger here
watchin’ and waitin’
For what? I just can’t say.
Bathed in a phosphorescent Day-Glo
of swirlin’ neon colors
Radioactive particle decay
And wishin’ you were holdin’ me
here . . . in your arms
As I drift off to sleep
I know that
tomorrow
will only be
Just another day
And what more can I say? |
And Autumn’s canticle
is on the rise
And I watch the world drift by
through dreamy eyes
Now Autumn’s steppes
have topped the steep
With measured tread
and frosty glance
that’s bound to stagger
Still, “we all have promises to keep”
We drag ourselves along
and weep
our burning tears
into our frothy lager
But still I find, I linger here
watchin’ and waitin’
For what? I just can’t say.
Bathed in a phosphorescent Day-Glo
of swirlin’ neon colors
Radioactive particle decay
And wishin’ you were holdin’ me
here . . . in your arms
As I drift off to sleep
I know that
tomorrow
will only be
Just another day
And what more can I say?
The plunge
of a raindrop
through the storm
Blasted . . .
. . . then splattered
The renegade who can’t conform
As if had mattered
And wishin’ I was holdin’ you
there . . . in my arms
As I drift off to sleep
I know that
Tomorrow
will only be
Just another day
And what more can I say? |
