Music & Lyrics: The Lonely Horizon

The lonely ol’ horizon
and me with whats’iz name
Got a lot of memories
but things don’t stay the same
Cause’ I came here
and he went there
And time just got away
Then when it’s all been said and done
You can’t go home again

Met him in a nightclub
up on Hollywood Boulevard
Because I kind of liked
the way he danced
We made love
But like two ships
that are passin’ in the night
It seems you never get a second chance

Didn’t know just how to act
or how the game was played
Too naïve to know just what to say
It wasn’t till much later on
I realized my mistake
The best one was the one that got away

Occasionally I’d think
I saw him pass me in a bar
But when I’d look again
he’d disappeared
It’s the look I still remember
that was in his eyes that night
Though I haven’t seen
a look like that in years
