Woman's Lamp The woman’s lamp is infused with metaphor and symbolism. From the shape of the shade to the colors within it, even the placement of the bulb hints at the mysteries of a woman’s charms. The form of the lamp initially suggests an African fertility image. The top curve of the neck, from which the shade is suspended, is serpentine and follows the same curve as that of the snake when it is offering the “apple” in classic paintings. The ornamentation on the base exhibits a squared spiral one of the characteristic symbolic motifs of Eric Helín’s work. The design is an unusual departure for Helín who does not often emphasize the female form in his works. home • biography • about us • designs/products • neon work • art furniture / functional art • music • gallery • contact us • sitemap • faq Copyright © 2005-2007 Eric Helín Design.
